A single draw hand held telescope made in the style of the distinctive British Naval Officer of the Watch telescopes, signed Dollond London. Circa 1890.

A classic naval telescope, the main barrel is constructed of wood, covered in its original textured black leather stitched cladding which is in good condition, with unbroken stitching and a couple of areas of light scuffing. The nickel plated brass fittings are in very good condition and retain all of their finish, and the action of the nickel plated brass draw tube is firm and smooth.
All lenses are clean & free of any damage, producing a very clear and sharp image of between 15x and 20x magnification through the 40mm diameter objective lens. There is also an integral swivel dust cover in the eyepiece and original lens cap.

Dimensions: 25⅜" closed and 33½” when fully expanded with the sliding sun shade fully extended.
