  • US Coastal Artillery Azimuth Scope Dated 1941

The azimuth scope was used for target observation, it was often used in the process of spotting the fall of fire (shell splashes) from the battery, directing the artillery and calling out corrections to the battery's aim (over, short, left, or right).
This brass scope has been stripped of the original black finish, polished, cleaned and then plated with a thin layer of gold to prevent tarnishing and minimise the need for cleaning. It has then been mounted on a period wooden tripod stand. The optics have been fully refurbished to the highest standards.
