  • Slate Surface Globe

A rare and unusually large scale slate surface globe by Phillips of London. The globe has lines of longitude and latitude etched into the surface of the matt black paint finish and coastal outlines painted in white. This allows for chalk to be used across the surface to add information to the globe and then to be removed. The condition of the globe is generally good but because the sphere is constructed from aluminium which is a reletively soft metal, it is particularly susceptible to damage. There are therefore some scratches, scuffs, dents, and marks present on parts of the surface. Circa 1940.

    Dimensions: 48 cm/19 inches (diameter)
