    A fine silver tiffin tin with silver plated padlock and key. Hallmarked London 1911.

    Dimensions: 11 cm/4⅜ inches (diameter) x 14 cm/5½ inches (height)

    ‘Tiffin’ was originally a term used to denote the British custom of stopping to take afternoon tea and this style of container was often used to carry suitable food whilst on the move. Silver has long been know to have strong antibacterial qualities and has therefore been used for hundreds of years as a material to make food containers.
