A fine example of a classic English chess set with weighted turned and carved Boxwood and Ebony 'Staunton' pattern pieces; in original Mahogany box with silk lining and key; circa 1900.
A few of the ebony pieces display shrinkage cracks in the turned base sections that are typical of these weighted sets.
