A lovely leather on oak case for a side by side double barrel 12 bore shotgun. With original felt lined interior and John Dickson & Son label in the lid. Circa 1910. The case is in excellent condition and also contains a set of cleaning rods.
Interior currently blocked for 29 inch barrels.

Born in the late 1700s the first John Dickson was apprenticed as a gunmaker in Edinburgh in 1806 and founded his own company in 1820, becoming Scotland’s leading maker of fine sporting guns.
The company gained particular fame through its round action shotgun, for which a patent was taken out in 1882. Its distinguished customers included Lord Byron, who bought his duelling pistols here.
