Silver storage box with banded ridged design by Padgett and Braham Ltd, who made for many of the great retailers of the day including Garrard and later Asprey.
Originally designed for cigarettes, the box features gilding to the inside of the lid and cedar lining to the body of the box.
There is also a retailer’s mark on the base for Sorley, one of the largest and most influential jewellery and silversmith’s establishments in Glasgow. Hallmarked London, 1937.
