A splendid solid leather trunk by Best & Co. of South Audley Street and Sloane Street, London. Circa 1915. With brass lock and two leather straps. Original black painted initials, A.H.R., can be made out on the top of the trunk along with the owner's red and white identifying stripes.
Tim says, "This is one of my favourite pieces of stock at the moment. There are charming remnants of luggage labels including one from Cambridge to Wadhurst - perhaps a final train journey home from university? And, of course, I love the maker's name Best & Co and that they were based just a few hundred yards away from the shop on Sloane Street."
We have had the trunk relined using a traditional striped cotton ticking whilst retaining the original Best & Co label.
