Whilst entertaining, the theory that the Coupe glass was modelled on the anatomy of Queen Marie Antoinette or even Madame de Pompadour is unlikely.
Less diverting, but more historically correct, it was designed in the 1600’s by an English friar of the Benedictine order and first became very fashionable in the 1700's.
