A sensational Mahogany box veneered in Coromandel, circa 1880. With finely engraved brass emblem inset in the top, showing a hand holding a quill pen.
Lifting the lid reveals 12 matching cut glass, half bottle size, stoppered, Port decanters. Once the lid is up the mechanism holding the drawer closed is withdrawn and this can be slid out to reveal 12 matching cut glass Port glasses.
Engraved with maker's label Lund of London, an exceptional cutler and maker off fitted boxes, dressing cases and other ‘fancy' items.
Possibly the set was originally made for a literary society or writers guild.
