A smart set of ‘Galilean’, polished brass, hand held binoculars by Dallmeyer of London, circa 1900. With 2⅛ inch/55 mm diameter objective lenses, a central focus adjustment wheel and stitched textured leather covering. Fitted with polished brass sliding shades that pull forward, to help combat glare. These binoculars use a Galilean optical design that incorporates convex objective lenses and concave eyepiece lenses. Stamped with the British ordinance broad arrow mark to show that these binoculars were requisitioned during WWI.
