Fine, hand held, ‘Galilean’, polished brass binocular with textured leather covering and central focus adjustment wheel, circa 1900. Has 1⅝ inch/42.5 mm objective lenses and fitted with sliding shades that pull forward, to help combat glare. These binoculars use a Galilean optical design that incorporates convex objective lenses and concave eyepiece lenses.
