Leather Cased Set of Maps of England and Wales

A pigskin leather case with ‘fish-tail’ handle containing a complete series of Bartholomew's 2 miles to an inch scale, linen backed maps for England and Wales by Edward Stanford of Long Acre, London. The inside of the lid contains an Opisometer for measuring distances of a proposed journey by running the device along the length of the route on the map. The case is stamped inside with the retailers details; Sifton, Praed and Co. Ltd and the set totals 37 individual maps.
