An unusual late 19th Century compass on gimbal mount contained within a velvet lined mahogany case. With a mother of pearl dial that has a transit lock to protect the dial when not in use. Made by Elliott Brothers, suppliers to the Admiralty between 1876 and 1918.

Dimensions: 9.5 cm/3¾ inches (width) x 9.5 cm/3¾ inches (depth) x 7.25 cm/2⅞ inches.
