Silver Paper Knife

Tane began to produce jewellery and pre-Hispanic reproduction pieces in the 1950s, having started life as makers of leather goods in the 1940s; Tane is an abbreviation of the French tannerie. This paper knife subtly retains the Pre-Columbian styling that inspired Tane's earliest silverwork. The move to silversmithing reflected the increasing importance of the silver market both within Mexico and overseas. Today, Mexico is a world leader in silver production.
