Silver Plated Wine Cooler/Champagne Bucket

A wonderful art deco style silver plated Champagne bucket/wine cooler by Christofle, under the Gallia line of products. With makers mark used between 1935 - 1975.

Dimensions: maximum width including handles 22.5 cm/8⅞ inches. 19 cm/7½ inches (diameter of top excluding handles) x 21 cm/8¼ inches (height).

Founded in Paris in the 1830’s the Christofle firm negotiated the rights to the electroplating patents of G & R Elkington of Birmingham, England. In 1930 the firm was taken over by the grand nephew of the founder. With the influence of his design conscience wealthy Italian wife, a renaissance began. They commissioned designs from some of the most gifted industrial designers and architects to produce stylish and avant garde ranges for Christofle.
