A superb 1960’s silver box made, in the first instance, to hold cigarettes. Originally retailed by Bedetti in Rome and made by renowned Italian silversmith Fratelli Cacchione of Milan. Marked with a 925 purity stamp (the same as sterling silver), the maker’s mark, F.C. and makers number 39MI. This mark for Fratelli Cacchione was used from 1949 - 1970. Also stamped 'hand made for Bedetti Roma'. With beautiful engraved diamond pattern to each of the visible sides of the box; fantastic quality!
Fratelli Cacchione are a dynasty of five generations of silversmiths still ongoing today. In the past they have worked for exclusive jewellers such as Tiffany, Cartier, Harry Winston and Asprey and collaborated to make all sorts of different silver ware.
Dimensions: 9.5 cm/3¾ inches (width) x 9.5 cm/3¾ inches (depth) x 9.5 cm/3¾ inches (height).
