Cased Pocket Telescope

A wonderful hand held brass three draw pocket scope with rosewood barrel, circa 1830. Complete with 'moroccan' leather covered case. Has “Bate London” engraved inscription that refers to Robert Brettell Bate, a very high quality manufacturer of scientific instruments who was active during the first half of the 19th century. Has 1⅛ inch diameter objective lens and an integral swivel dust cover in the eyepiece.
