An unusual conical glass spirit flask with crocodile skin covering the upper three-quarters. A removable silver-plated cup at the bottom that can slide off when required, while the hinged, silver-plated and cork-lined top features a bayonet closer.

The collar of the flask has the maker's mark for silversmiths William Hutton and Sons, and the base of the cup is also stamped with the Hutton & Sons cross arrows trademark.

In order to distinguish 'superior quality' silver plate, makers would stamp A1 to signify the highest classification. The side of the cup is engraved with the emblem of the Craig clan and their motto, 'J’ai Bonne Esperance' (I have good hope). Circa 1910.

Dimensions: 35 cm/13¾ inches (height) x 17.5 cm/6⅞ inches (max. diameter).
