A leather covered brass telescope by J.J. Hicks dated 1901, on campaign tripod stand by W. Watson & Sons London dated 1888. With 2¼ inch objective lens, integral swivel dust cover in the eyepiece, extending brass shade and original lens cap. The telescope also comes with a newly made wooden floor stand to provide stability to the tripod and give protection to floor surfaces.

Dimensions: 95 cm/37⅜ inches (maximum length of telescope) x 159.5 cm/62⅞ inches (height when horizontal on stand).

This telescope and stand have obviously been together for a long time; there are matching old stamped markings (possibly military) on parts of both the tripod stand and the scope.
