Large Glass and Silver Casket

Unusual Dutch glass and silver box with silver handles and ball feet. A silver frame contains panels of bevelled clear glass. With maker's mark for J.M. van Kempen, a well-known Dutch silversmith from the city of Voorschoten. Date letter for the year 1915. Key & lion mark means it was made for export. Has original padded velvet lining that is designed to lift out making the box more adaptable. Kempen & Zonen became Dutch royal silversmiths due the fame they achieved from their exhibit at the 'Crystal Palace' 1851 World's Fair in London.

Dimensions: 21 cm/8¼ inches (width) x 17 cm/6¾ inches (depth) x 10.5 cm/4⅛ inches (height).
