Large Art Deco Silver Cocktail Shaker

Large Belgian silver Art Deco style ovoid cocktail shaker by Brussels silversmith and court jeweller Wolfers Frères, made using a good, heavy gauge of silver. With maker's mark and 835 purity stamp on the bottom of the shaker. Circa 1935. The shaker is the classic three-piece design, with a base section, top and cap. The top contains an integral strainer.

Dimensions: 28.50 cm/11¼ inches (height) x 11 cm/4¼ inches (max. diameter).

About Wolfers Frères

After the death of his father, the jeweller and silversmith Louis Wolfers, Philippe led the family firm "Wolfers Frères". Working with his brothers Max and Robert, he became its design director, and in this role introduced jewellery and silverware in an avant-garde Art Nouveau style. While his work from the turn of the century is probably his best-known, in his later years his work aligned with Art Deco.
