Fine silver box with enamel St Andrews flag showing a field of blue with a yellow saltire, hallmarked London, 1935. The blue enamel of the flag and darkened to near black with age.
Originally designed to store cigarettes, the box has its original cedar lining to the interior and a removable divider to the centre. There is a retailer’s mark on the base for Sorley, one of the largest and most influential jewellery and silversmith’s establishments in Glasgow.
