A magnificent hand stitched large leather cigar case with embossed maker's stamp for Middlemore, one of the best makers of this type of 'cigar protector', Circa 1850. The name of the original owner of this cigar case, G.E.C. Talbot, is handwritten on the inside section with the address, Milntown, Coonoor (India). Case expands for differing lengths of cigar.
Dimensions (when fully closed): 16.25 cm/6⅜ inches (length) x 11 cm/4⅜ inches (width) x 5.25 cm/2⅛ inches (thick).
Will take up to eight cigars with maximum diameter in excess of 2.0 cm/52 ring gauge and expands in length to accommodate a maximum cigar length of 22.75 cm/9 inches.
