Yashima 15 x 80 Binoculars

An unusual pair of 15 x 80 (15 power magnification with 80 mm objective lenses) WWII Japanese naval binoculars by Yashima of Tokyo, circa 1940. These steel binoculars have been stripped of their original enamel paint finish, polished, cleaned and bright nickel plated. The brass eye piece sections and lens shades have been plated with a thin layer of gold to prevent them tarnishing and minimise cleaning. The binoculars have then been mounted on a custom made cradle fitted to a period wooden tripod stand. The optics have been fully refurbished to the highest standards.
